I think that professional wrestling is a misunderstood form of storytelling. This is an introduction to the art form, including a short breakdown of what wrestling is.

When you tell someone you like professional wrestling, the typical response you will hear is, “How can you watch that it’s fake fighting? I’d rather watch boxing or Mixed Martial Arts, where the real fighting happens”.

Don’t watch if you want actual sport

What they forgotten or are unaware of is that professional wrestling isn’t solely about the actions that take place inside the squared circle. If you’re looking for pugilistic combat as a sport, don’t watch professional wrestling, as it won’t entertain you, and I suggest watching a combat sport instead.

It’s not a combat sport

Professional wrestling isn’t a combat sport in fact it isn’t a sport full stop. It is a scripted live-action TV show that takes place in front of a live audience. The only thing that isn’t scripted is when wrestlers/performers pick up real injuries, either by accident or whilst training, that causes them to be out of action for several months.
