In life, you will encounter and befriend a whole host of individuals, which is one of the great things about this world of ours. This is the reward that comes from putting ourselves out there and leaving the safety and comfort of our own bubbles. Especially in this day and age, when it has never been easier to meet people from all walks of life, and it's something to be celebrated and enjoyed.
But this ability to meet and make new connections seemingly at a whim means we must be careful and show due diligence with the people we meet. Unfortunately, there are those out there who will seek to take advantage of us in one way or another. This could be down to malicious intent, naivety, or greed hence why we must detach ourselves from them before they can harm us. This destruction can be worse when we get emotionally or romantically involved with them in one way or another.
This I know all too well to be true regardless of what stories they tell us, the balls of yarn that get spun into some tragically intricate tapestries, full of half-truths and falsehoods. What happens is we get lured in by them and conned into opening up to them and thinking we can trust them when it’s the very last thing we should do.
Trust that your gut instincts will lead you down the right path, but most importantly, listen to those you trust and who only want the best for you. Be strong and resolute in your actions, and you will make the right decision. Over the past few years, I have learnt this lesson the hard way, and I chose to cut people out of my life much too late when had I listened to my gut sooner, I would never have gotten into the shit show that found myself in. Yes, I have learned from this mistake, but it cost me years of my life, and I will never get that time back. Never forget that you have value and that there is nothing you cannot do, and don’t let people take advantage of you.
